Opportunities for Prayer

So a few weeks ago I had one of those "Ah hah" moments... here's how it happened...
Ali hates blow drying her hair... and I don't blame her...but it has to be done or it will be a tangled mess. So guess who gets to dry it for her? Yes, me. And do I enjoy it? Not really, especially since she has a ton of hair! However, recently as she was sitting on the floor as I dried her hair... and I was kinda bothered... thinking "This is taking forever!" or..."Biggest Loser is starting...I have to get in there!" ...I was prompted to stop and think about the opportunity I had at that moment... yeh it's hard to hear over the dryer so conversation isn't the easiest, but I have about 7 or 8 minutes that I can pray for her... that time can be used as blessing rather than a dreaded time. That's 7 or 8 minutes of time she is "held captive" and as long as she wants me to dry her hair, I now intend to make the most of it!
I wonder now what took me so long!...but it has really helped me to look at all of the different areas of my life and think about all the ways I can include prayer...every "little and seemingly obnoxious" task now can have meaning and be an "Opportunity for Prayer".

Even now, as I am sharing this "ah-hah" moment... it's resonating in my heart that it's not just an opportunity for prayer... but also an "Opportunity for Praise"... praise that I have a daughter who is healthy and whose hair I can dry for her. Praise that I have children who are alive and whose laundry I can do...everyday!!! =-) Praise in every task... it's a choice, but when I choose to praise in the midst of those tasks...my attitude changes...I have joy. And isn't that what it's all about? Praising the Lord in all things because He has given them to me.
