At church today, the question was asked, "What does freedom mean to you?"
In my mind's eye, I saw:
An eagle soaring. A horse running. A goldfish swimming.
If an eagle is caged, it cannot soar like it was created to.
If a horse is confined to a small pen, it cannot run like it was created to.
If a goldfish is in a little bowl, it cannot swim like it was created to.
They may have limited space to move about, but they cannot experience the fullness of freedom.
When we are bound by sin, this is us. We cannot experience what God has for us... His complete freedom. And therefore, we are missing out on an aspect of life that is beyond rewarding and we will not have the full impact we could have on this world for the glory of Jesus.
I want to run. I want to soar. I want to swim. I want what God has for me, in its fullness! Freedom.
Lord, show me each day where I am bound so that I may become fully free!
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galations 5:1
