Father's Day 2011... a few days early

Sometimes I feel at a loss for what to give for gifts... especially when I'm on a tight budget.
Like this year for Father's Day... what do I do?
How about something simple that shows I thought of him... something that I probably already have most of what I need in the cabinet already?...
I'm talking about COOKIES! I mean, who doesn't like fresh baked cookies?

So, I just picked out a few favorite recipes, picked up a cute canister at the store and Voila! A great gift!
Here's a look at what went into it:

Snickerdoodles!

Peanut butter cookies!

Coconut Oatmeal Cookies!

Walnut Brownies!

Now, just alternate them in a jar and smack a bow on top!

I think he'll like it... I sure enjoyed eating some while I was making it!  :)

But beyond the gift, I don't want to lose sight of why I even give a gift. I don't give because it's the thing to do... I give because I truly love... maybe that's why as I bake I feel so happy... because I know I'm doing it for someone who means so much.

The card I found this year for my dad really speaks to who he is, even though it is simple.
It reads,
"You help. You teach. You encourage. You advise. You listen. But most of all, you love."
And that is true of him.

Thank you Dad for who you are and for being a dad who really loves.
I really love you!
Happy Father's Day!
(I hope you like your cookies! :)
